WFMW: Tide is worth $7.99

As you've seen in previous posts, my sons are recovering from a bout with a stomach bug (hubs and I were spared!). We had so many, uh, episodes, that for a few days it seemed our washer never stopped!

I usually buy the darn-near cheapest laundry detergent and it has served our family well. But before all this started (obviously in a fit of unbelieveable weakness) I bought Tide with Febreze for $7.99. Yes, I know, it is a crime to spend that much on detergent, but dang it, Febreze smells so good I couldn't resist. Well, kiddos, this time my momentary lapse of reason paid off.

You see, Son 2 had a bit of a relapse the other day. Without warning, lasagna and garlic bread (and yogurt, I think) were revisited all over the front of my brand-new Adidas t-shirt. A SOLID WHITE t-shirt. I figured, the shirt's ruined, what's the use in pre-treating? So I threw it in the washer with all the other assaulted clothes and figured it would make a very expensive dust-rag.

Would you believe the shirt came completely clean? Not a trace of anything anywhere. It could have come straight off the hanger at JC Penney. Unbelieveable. Hubs pretended to be impressed but I was so thrilled I sent Tide my testimonial. I'm fantasizing that a case of it will appear on my doorstep...

Splurging on Tide with Febreze...Works for me!

Great-- I bought my wedding dress for 5 dollars-- it mas pretty browned/aged but a gorgeous antique. I soaked it in Tide-- it came out a beautiful, pure white. I am probably the only person who's detergent cost more than her wedding dress.

This is the one thing I never go cheap on. My mom buys cheap stuff and their clothes, towels, etc...always end up looking dingy before too long. I feel its better to spend a little more on Tide than to have to buy new clothes.

Also, if you have a Costco nearby, You can get a HUGE box that lasts me 2-4 months for only 26.00

Really? It makes a difference? My big thing is SMELL--I like my clothes (particularly the kids') to smell clean. Can you tell a difference in the smell between that and the cheap stuff?

I used to be a penny-piincher on my detergent. I got tired of the smell of everything else, and decided to splurge "just once" and get some Tide w/bleach alternative. The difference in my laundry (look, stain treatment, smell) made me a convert. It's worth the extra $$ to have great looking and smelling laundry! Thanks for sharing and have a wonderful WFMW!

Yep, we use Tide w/bleach alternative here also. It is awesome. Target runs the BIG box on sale for 15.99 every so often, which was this week. I bought two!

You get what you pay for, don't you? I love Tide and will buy it whenever it is on sale. And sometimes, there are coupons!
BTW, I hope the kids are okay now and the nasty stomach bug is gone, gone, gone!

My mother was a Tide fan when I was growing up. I actually don't purchase it because of the price but it does clean well.

I recently crossed over to the Tide side, too. I was tired of having to pre-treat all my kids' clothes, and still having them come out ruined from lunch stains, grass stains, etc.

I decided that the extra money spent on detergent would be worth not having to throw clothes away all the time.

Oh man, the Febreeze smell is really good, but sometimes almost overpowering! I've only tried the fabric softener, but not the Tide. But after reading all the testimonials in the comments, I just might! Although, I'm quite content with the store brand stuff I use now, it's a no name knock off of Tide (they're in the same bottle even), so I think it's the same thing only cheaper.

Take care,
